FAQs Laser Smoke Cessation

What is Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)?
Low Level Laser Therapy, or LLLT, is the term commonly used to describe the bio-stimulating effects of laser light, which works on specific energy points on the body. Laser light has the ability to penetrate the skin surface and increase cellular activity without damaging any tissue. As a result, LLLT is non-invasive, painless, and relaxing. The laser light naturally increases cell metabolism and stimulates the release of endorphins. Endorphins are the feel good chemicals released when cigarette smoke is inhaled by a smoker.

How Does LLLT Work for Smoking Cessation?
LLLT works by stimulating specific points of the body (ears, wrists, knees and feet) to release its own natural endorphins, which have a calming effect on the central nervous system. The endorphin production relieves the physical withdrawal symptoms of quitting smoking and helps keep the patient from feeling anxious and/or moody. LLLT rapidly helps to trigger the bodys natural cellular communication system and positive immune response to replace the physical dependency on nicotine and helps alleviate the cravings.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Typically, the LLLT for Smoking Cessation consists of 2 treatments and a booster if necessary. We recommend one on the initial start day, and the second treatment two days later. This protocol is designed to ensure we are monitoring your progress and ensuring successful results.

How Long Does Each Treatment Take?
The laser session takes approximately 30 minutes.

Is Low-Light Laser Therapy Safe?
Yes. LLLT is a safe, non-invasive treatment with virtually no negative side effects because LLLT is a cold laser. It does not stimulate any thermal temperature rising in the tissue.

Will LLLT Hurt?
No. LLLT is completely painless. In most cases, patients leave the treatment feeling more relaxed.

Is There Anything I Need to do to Prepare for the Laser Therapy?
There is nothing you have to do prior to the treatment, but we do recommend a few things.
– Commit yourself 100% to the treatment
– Dont smoke for at least 4 hours prior to initial treatment.
– Get rid of all your cigarettes and smoking paraphernalia
– Drink a lot of water to flush out nicotine from your system
